Teen Cranes Soar Past Zimbabwe to Set Up Stand with Kenya

Uganda's U-17 women's national team, the Teen Cranes, delivered a masterclass at the FUFA Kadiba Stadium, dismantling Zimbabwe 4-1 to secure their spot in the next qualification round. The dominant performance ensured a convincing 6-1 aggregate victory, ending any hopes of a Zimbabwean comeback.

The host took control early and never looked back, though the scoreline could have been more lopsided.

The Early Breakthrough by Brendah Nassaka opened the floodgates in the 10th minute, clinical finishing giving Uganda an early led.

In the 26th minute, Immaculate Acen had a golden opportunity to double the lead from the penalty spot, but her effort rattled the woodwork. Acen didn't let the miss weigh her down, finding the back of the net just four minutes later to make it 2-0 at the half-hour mark

Giovanna Aketogwanga extended the lead to 3-0, though Zimbabwe managed to grab a lifeline just before the break through a Shantel Gwenhamo strike. Closing the deal, second half substitute Terry Mora Oseko, who came on for Grace Kawino, put the icing on the cake by scoring the fourth and final goal

The road to qualification now leads to a high-stakes East African Derby. Uganda is scheduled to face Kenya in the second round. The Kenyan side enters the matchup in formidable form themselves, having brushed aside Namibia with a 7-1 aggregate scoreline.
